I am considering re painting my mountain bike frame.
Powder coating a mountain bike frame. The charged powder particles adhere to the electrically grounded frame until the powder is heated and fused into a smooth coating in the curing oven. Are there any special preparation considerations. After removing all non metal parts anddisassemblingthe frame as much as possible the first step is removing the existing color whether it be paint a previous powder coat or anodized finish.
However my frame is carbon fiber. This process can be started with an off the shelf remover but either way the frame will still get sandblasted to remove anyremainingmaterial and to prep the surface for its new coating. 4 finish with jewelers files the same ones we wrecked whilst removing the paint a couple of suggestions for drawing curvey things that can be cut with waterjet software.
At this stage we can apply either a further clear or special effect lacquer coats. Apply the colour coat of polyester powder and fully cure until both the primer topcoat have fully bonded to the work. Decals can be fitted if supplied by the client.
3 rough cut the logo with a jig saw. 2 laminate the paper to the aluminum plate with spray adhesive. Can i take the frame to a media blasting house and have them strip all of the current paint and primer off or is that asking for trouble.
Can this material be powder coated.
